Opto-Mechanical Engineer II

About the role

Join Applied Materials as an Opto-Mechanical Engineer II to contribute to cutting‑edge semiconductor and display equipment. You will work under general supervision to design, analyze, and support mechanical components throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis and troubleshoot moderate mechanical problems.
• Design or modify mechanical layouts, schematics, and drawings.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, identifying critical parts.
• Generate engineering test reports and documentation for product releases.
• Develop custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes.
• Enable handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts throughout the product life cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 2‑4 years of related mechanical engineering experience.

• CAD software proficiency.
• Thermodynamics knowledge.
• Sheet metal design.
• Material selection.
• Manufacturing methods.
• GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Flow analysis.
• Design for Excellence principles.
