Manager, Commercial Counsel – Go-to-Market

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Manager, Commercial Counsel to lead its Go‑to‑Market legal team. In this senior position you will partner with sales and product groups to shape agreements that bring safe, responsible AI technology to enterprise customers and startups worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, focusing on GTM and SaaS contracts with enterprise technology customers and startups.
• Collaborate closely with Sales and Go‑to‑Market leadership to accelerate deal velocity while providing practical legal guidance.
• Develop and maintain commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks and process improvements.
• Manage and grow a team of attorneys supporting enterprise technology and startup segments.
• Identify, assess and escalate legal risks, ensuring business momentum is maintained.
• Stay up‑to‑date on legal developments affecting AI technologies.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, SaaS agreements or technology transactions.
• Demonstrated people‑management experience, including hiring, developing and leading legal professionals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts for non‑lawyer stakeholders.
• 8+ years of legal experience, preferably with a focus on commercial contracts and technology transactions.
• Active membership in the California bar is preferred.
• Strong interest in AI technology, AI policy and responsible AI development.
