International Trade Internship – Georgia Department of Economic Development

About the role

The Georgia Department of Economic Development is seeking an International Trade Intern to support its mission of creating jobs by expanding Georgia manufacturers and professional service providers into global markets. This internship offers hands‑on experience in trade promotion, market research, and client support.

Key responsibilities

• Create and disseminate research that highlights Georgia’s connections to specific countries.
• Respond to client requests for market research, identification of overseas contacts, and guidance on entering foreign markets.
• Compile and analyze country‑specific, industry‑specific, and worldwide trade statistics.
• Assist in recruiting companies for trade events and exhibitions.
• Support CRM database management and maintain accurate records.
• Perform special projects and provide administrative assistance as needed.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a four‑year or advanced degree program in international business, trade, or a closely related field.
• Strong interest in political economy, current affairs, and international trade issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Team‑player, self‑starter, and self‑disciplined.
• Student must be enrolled in a Georgia high school, technical college, university, or college during the internship.
