Head of Dataset & Quality (Quantitative)

About the role

Build AI is a data hyperscaler focused on Physical AI, integrating hardware, manufacturing, logistics, collection, and model training. As the Head of Dataset & Quality you will own the strategy that ensures the dataset truly solves physical‑labor problems, maximizing the net‑new learnable information rather than just volume.

Key responsibilities

• Define the ideal dataset for physical labor, including coverage, diversity, and success criteria, and create the objective function for the current dataset.
• Design the taxonomy, golden sets, acceptance criteria, and audit processes so quality is measurable.
• Develop a value function for incremental data and translate it into a collection strategy, standards, and vendor operations.
• Resist false local optima that add sensors or fidelity at the expense of throughput and information gain.
• Collaborate with marketplace incentives, software, and research to keep scoring focused on coverage, quality, and information.
• Partner with the Evals Lead to align dataset decisions with model‑capability metrics.

Required profile

• Quantitative background (quant research, statistics, decision science, or similar) with a focus on objective functions and information value.
• Ability to argue scaling versus fidelity with numbers.
• Experience designing datasets, collection strategies, or large‑scale data programs.
• Comfort with in‑the‑wild collection and a rapidly scaling, multi‑country operation.
