Head of AI Engineering

About the role

Highlight AI is seeking a Head of AI Engineering to lead and scale its machine‑learning efforts. In this hands‑on leadership position you will define the architecture, quality and roadmap for ingesting, modeling and surfacing context across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of the context graph and memory systems, covering data ingestion, modeling, retrieval and evaluation.
• Research, prototype and deploy state‑of‑the‑art text and OCR models, including transformer architectures, computer vision, time‑series forecasting and reinforcement learning.
• Lead the full ML lifecycle: data pipelines, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, scalability, latency optimisation, retraining, A/B testing and model management.
• Ensure high output quality for chat, actions and workflows, driving industry‑leading acceptance rates.
• Build and mentor a world‑class ML engineering team and establish AI/ML best practices across engineering.
• Stay current on knowledge representation, continual learning and retrieval, translating insights into product features and publishing research when appropriate.

Required profile

• 7+ years of ML/AI engineering experience with at least 3 years leading teams or major technical initiatives.
• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or equivalent.
• Track record of shipping production AI systems at scale, preferably with published research in knowledge graphs, memory systems, retrieval or continual learning.
• Experience at top AI labs or leading AI‑focused companies.
