Funeral Service Education Instructor

About the role

The Funeral Service Education Instructor will deliver high‑quality instruction for the Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service Education program at North Georgia Technical College. The role involves classroom, laboratory, clinical and online teaching, as well as program development and student advising.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging instruction in accordance with curriculum standards, course competencies and Student Learning Outcomes.
• Supervise embalming and restorative art laboratories, ensuring safe practices and compliance with OSHA and related health‑safety regulations.
• Coordinate and evaluate student clinical experiences with affiliated funeral homes, cemeteries, crematories and other approved partners.
• Participate in curriculum development, accreditation activities, assessment of learning outcomes and program improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and completion of an ABFSE‑accredited Funeral Service Education program.
• Current, active Georgia Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses (or eligibility prior to employment).
• Minimum three years of professional experience in funeral service, with knowledge of embalming, restorative art, funeral directing, law, ethics and grief support.

Required skills

• Proficiency with instructional technology and Learning Management Systems, specifically Blackboard Ultra.
• Ability to design and maintain course content for face‑to‑face, hybrid and online delivery.
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
