Evening ESOL Instructor for Adult Learners

About the role

The YMCA Education & Training Center seeks a passionate ESOL instructor to teach adult immigrants English and life‑skills in an evening program. The position is remote, part‑time, running from September 2026 to May 2027, three evenings per week.

Key responsibilities

• Teach ESOL to adults from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious, and socio‑economic backgrounds.
• Design and deliver engaging, contextually relevant lesson plans that integrate language and life skills.
• Foster an inclusive, safe classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation.
• Conduct formative and summative assessments, track progress, and report outcomes.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and upload course materials to Google Classroom.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (educational background preferred).
• TESOL, TEFL, or TESL certification.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Strong understanding of socio‑economic and ethnic minority issues.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using Google Classroom and Google Docs.
• Comfort with web‑based file storage platforms such as SharePoint.
