Environmental Project Assessor - NY/NJ

About the role

Responsible for leading the direction, completion, and outcome of building assessment projects in accordance with ASTM standards and client scopes. The role involves on‑site assessments, report preparation and frequent travel to client sites across the U.S.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site assessments such as Property Condition Assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos/lead/radon sampling, seismic reports, structural and roofing surveys, ADA checklists, and construction monitoring.
• Prepare detailed written reports using field notes, photographs, interviews and regulatory records, ensuring compliance with ASTM criteria and client requirements.
• Communicate with local building, zoning and fire departments to identify violations and required corrective actions.
• Travel up to 50 % of the workweek by plane, vehicle or train, with overnight stays as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least three years of relevant experience (or five years without a degree).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to meet physical demands of on‑site inspections and travel schedule.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ASTM standards and building construction technical standards.
• Experience conducting Property Condition Assessments and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
• Proficiency in preparing technical reports and using electronic devices (computer, iPad) for data capture.
