Engineering Manager, Governance & Access

About the role

Render is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Governance & Access team, building security, governance, and access capabilities for our cloud platform. You will shape both the team and the foundational architecture for identity, authorization, and agent‑centric access.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Governance & Access team, defining roadmap for IAM, roles, permissions, and compliance.
• Design and implement access, identity, and governance systems that support both human users and AI agents.
• Partner with product, design, and security teams to align technical solutions with customer needs.
• Make critical architectural decisions and establish hiring and interview processes as the team scales.

Required profile

• Strong people leadership with experience building and scaling early‑stage engineering teams.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and ability to adapt as scope evolves.
• Track record of hiring, performance management, and developing senior engineers.

Required skills

• Experience with security, governance, or access management concepts (IAM, RBAC, compliance).
• Familiarity with building platforms for AI agents or agentic systems.
