Engineering Manager, Object Storage

About the role

Render is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team building its Object Storage product. You will combine technical leadership with product thinking, partnering with product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver a high‑quality, scalable service that developers rely on daily.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of object storage engineers, providing mentorship, feedback, and clear technical guidance.
• Drive execution on product initiatives from ideation through launch, balancing speed with reliability and quality.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Infra teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions and roadmaps.
• Engage in system design discussions, guiding architectural trade‑offs and ensuring long‑term platform health.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across engineering practices.

Required profile

• 8+ years of engineering experience shipping products with downstream business impact.
• 2+ years of people‑management experience, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Strong product‑oriented mindset, able to translate business goals and user needs into engineering roadmaps.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and design.

Required skills

• Experience building stateful services and highly scalable distributed systems.
• Deep technical background in system design, architecture, and engineering trade‑offs.
• Experience with developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, or DevTools (nice‑to‑have).
