Engineering Manager, Postgres

About the role

Render is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team building and maintaining the Render Postgres product. You will combine technical leadership with product thinking to deliver a high‑quality, scalable service used by hundreds of thousands of developers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of Postgres engineers through mentorship, feedback, and clear technical guidance.
• Drive execution on product initiatives from ideation to launch, balancing speed with reliability and quality.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Infrastructure teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions and roadmaps.
• Engage in system design discussions, guiding architectural trade‑offs and ensuring long‑term platform health.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across engineering practices.

Required profile

• 8+ years of engineering experience delivering products with downstream business impact.
• 2+ years of people‑management experience, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Strong product‑oriented mindset with ability to translate business goals and user needs into engineering roadmaps.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and design.

Required skills

• Deep experience with PostgreSQL and building stateful services.
• Strong technical background in system design, architecture, and engineering trade‑offs.
• Experience with highly scalable distributed systems or cloud infrastructure platforms.
