Customer Engineer

About the role

Render is building a modern cloud platform for AI‑native, full‑stack applications. As a Customer Engineer you will join the Scaled Programs Customer Engineering team to drive programmatic, one‑to‑many engagement with high‑growth accounts and help shape the tools and content used by the broader Field Engineering organization.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Scaled Account Managers to translate expansion and churn signals into outreach plays, in‑app prompts and AM talking points.
• Operate startup program onboarding using Intercom checklists, guided flows and activation follow‑up for high‑growth AI startups.
• Collaborate with Support Engineering to turn recurring mistakes into programs and self‑service content that reduce customer friction.
• Build and improve scaled‑engagement toolkit components such as in‑app programs, outbound triggers, pricing and sizing calculators, POC templates and enablement material.
• Run scaled customer programs including webinars, Slack community touchpoints and pattern‑based outreach across account cohorts.

Required profile

• 3+ years in a customer‑facing technical role such as customer engineering, solutions engineering, technical support or developer relations.
• Comfort operating high‑volume, one‑to‑many motions and building systems and content rather than relying on 1:1 interactions.
• Strong fundamentals in cloud infrastructure including containers, deploys, autoscaling, networking and CI/CD.
• Working knowledge of Postgres and common database migration patterns (Heroku, AWS RDS).
• Fluency with AI tools in daily workflow and ability to advise customers building AI‑native applications.
