Research Engineer – Life Sciences (AI)

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Research Engineer to join its Life Sciences team, focusing on accelerating progress in biology through advanced AI. You will combine deep machine‑learning expertise with biological challenges to create novel evaluation frameworks and training strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement evaluation frameworks for AI models applied to biological problems.
• Develop training strategies that push the frontier of large‑language‑model performance in life‑science tasks.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for large‑scale biological datasets.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers across disciplines to integrate AI into all phases of scientific discovery.

Required profile

• Proven experience training and evaluating large language models.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern machine‑learning development practices.
• Experience building and managing data pipelines for large datasets.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver solutions in fast‑moving research environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of independent work and cross‑functional collaboration.
