Early Development Postdoctoral Research Fellow

About the role

This two‑year Early Development fellowship, offered in partnership with Vertex Pharmaceuticals, provides post‑doctoral fellows with hands‑on experience across Clinical Pharmacology, Modeling & Simulation, and Early Development Medical. Fellows will rotate through each area, contributing to drug development projects and gaining expertise in quantitative pharmacology.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead clinical pharmacology studies, including first‑in‑human, bioavailability, and drug‑drug interaction trials.
• Implement model‑informed drug development using population PK, PK/PD, and optimal sampling designs.
• Support design and execution of first‑in‑human studies and early proof‑of‑mechanism strategies.
• Analyze clinical trial data, perform non‑compartmental PK analysis, and author regulatory documents.

Required profile

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE‑accredited institution.
• Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts.
• Excellent oral and written communication, strong time‑management and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work independently on industry‑site and university projects.

Required skills

• NONMEM software for pharmacometric modeling.
• R programming language for data analysis.
• Phoenix WinNonlin for PK analysis.
• Experience with PK/PD quantitative pharmacology and clinical trial data interpretation.
