Deputy Chief of Prevention

About the role

The City of Airway Heights Fire Department is seeking a qualified Deputy Chief of Prevention to lead fire prevention initiatives for a community of about 12,120 residents. This senior position reports to the Fire Chief and oversees inspection, education, and safety programs.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of fire and EMS service in a comparable organization.
• Current Washington State EMT‑B or National Registry EMT‑B certification.
• IFSAC/ProBoard Firefighter II, Fire Officer I, and Fire Inspector I certifications.
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain ICC Fire Inspector II, ICC Fire Plans Examiner, and IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer II within one year of appointment.

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT‑B) skills.
• Firefighter II operational competence.
• Fire Officer I leadership competencies.
• Fire Inspector I inspection knowledge.
