About the role
The Correctional Officer Trainee position provides an eight‑week pre‑service security training program followed by on‑the‑job experience at Taylorville Correctional Center. Successful cadets are sworn in, receive certificates and badges, and begin a career in state corrections.
Key responsibilities
- Complete an eight‑week pre‑service security training program at the IDOC Training Academy.
- Perform security and custodial duties under supervision at Taylorville Correctional Center.
Required profile
- Physically fit and able to meet screening standards prior to academy attendance.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
Required skills
- Ability to follow security protocols and maintain safety in a correctional environment.
- Commitment to uphold the oath of office and complete certification requirements.
