Lateral Police Officer

About the role

The City of Airway Heights is hiring Lateral Police Officers to perform general duty and investigative police work. Officers work in shifts, either on patrol vehicles or on foot, and may be assigned to uniform patrol, preliminary investigations, or traffic enforcement.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas, enforce laws, and respond to emergencies, criminal complaints, and vehicle accidents.
• Conduct investigations, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and make arrests.
• Issue citations, manage traffic, and perform searches and seizures.
• Prepare detailed written reports and testify in court as required.
• Use force when necessary, pursue high‑speed pursuits, and provide emergency medical assistance.

Required profile

• Two years of sworn, non‑military patrol officer experience.
• State‑issued Basic Law Enforcement certificate and a valid law‑enforcement commission.
• Ability to work independently, assess emergencies calmly, and maintain self‑control in demanding situations.
• Physical fitness to handle the demands of police work, including carrying equipment and subduing suspects.

Required skills

• Knowledge of safe firearm use.
• Understanding of city, state, and federal laws and police procedures.
• First‑aid principles and application.

• Annual salary range $96,333 – $102,200 (Intermediate range $90,803 – $96,333).
