Senior Accountant – Vacation Rental Portfolio (Remote)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant with direct vacation‑rental experience to lead client onboarding and streamline accounting operations for short‑term rental businesses. This fully remote position supports a growing portfolio of vacation‑rental clients across U.S. time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support onboarding of new vacation‑rental clients, ensuring accurate setup of accounting systems.
• Customize and optimize accounting workflows for each client, including trust accounting and owner statements.
• Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements, month‑end close, and property‑level reporting.
• Work with vacation‑rental platforms such as PMS, channel managers, and trust accounting systems.
• Identify process improvements and implement scalable accounting solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance efficiency and client experience.
• Serve as the subject‑matter expert for vacation‑rental accounting.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior‑level accounting experience, preferably in the vacation‑rental sector.
• Proven experience onboarding new clients and configuring accounting systems.
• Strong understanding of trust accounting, owner statements, and property‑level reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
