Occupational Safety Coordinator

About the role

The Occupational Safety Coordinator supports the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences by overseeing workplace safety programs, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with occupational health regulations. This position works within the Campus Operations Environmental Programs department to promote a safe and healthy environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and monitor occupational safety initiatives across campus facilities.
• Conduct safety inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide safety training and education to employees and students.
• Collaborate with environmental programs and other campus departments to integrate safety practices.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in occupational safety, investigations, or inspections.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety compliance procedures.
• Experience with incident investigation and root‑cause analysis.
• Proficiency in preparing safety documentation and reports.
