Police Sergeant

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a dedicated Police Sergeant to lead its campus law‑enforcement team. This full‑time position is responsible for maintaining safety, enforcing regulations, and supporting the university community on a 24‑hour basis.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor police officers and support staff on the 2nd shift.
• Respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and prepare detailed incident reports.
• Enforce university policies, state laws, and local ordinances.
• Develop and implement community‑policing initiatives and safety programs.
• Coordinate with campus partners, including health services and administration, to address security concerns.
• Provide training, performance evaluations, and schedule management for the shift.

Required profile

• Valid law‑enforcement certification and the ability to work 2nd‑shift hours.
• Proven experience in police or public‑safety leadership roles.
• Eligibility to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Strong communication and decision‑making abilities.
