Locksmith – Temporary Fixed-Term (Facilities)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Locksmith to join the Facilities Services team at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This temporary, fixed‑term position supports the campus by ensuring all locks, keys, and access control systems operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electronic lock systems across the medical campus.
• Respond to emergency lockout situations and provide timely resolutions.
• Create, duplicate, and manage keys and access cards in accordance with security policies.
• Perform routine inspections of doors, hardware, and security devices to identify wear or malfunction.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, inventory of lock components, and service logs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant locksmith certification preferred.
• Valid state locksmith license or ability to obtain one promptly.
• Prior experience working in a healthcare or large‑facility environment is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently, follow safety procedures, and handle confidential access information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mechanical lock mechanisms and electronic access control systems.
• Key cutting, rekeying, and master key system management.
• Basic troubleshooting of door hardware and electronic components.
