Housekeeping PRN – Environmental Services Tech II

About the role

The Environmental Services Tech II provides advanced custodial and sanitation services to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout Palestine Regional Medical Center. This position is responsible for cleaning patient rooms, public areas, procedural and surgical spaces, and may assist with specialized waste handling or terminal cleaning in clinical settings.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect floors, walls, patient‑care equipment, restrooms, and public areas.
• Prepare and use germicidal cleaning solutions according to safety guidelines.
• Handle hazardous waste, soiled linen, and regulated medical waste in compliance with protocols.
• Restock and organize supplies; maintain supply closets.
• Assist with furniture moves, room setups, and special‑project cleaning.
• Collect, transport, and dispose of waste following regulatory standards.
• Operate mechanical cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Report equipment malfunctions and unsafe conditions to management.
• Follow safety protocols for chemicals, equipment, and biohazards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of infection‑prevention practices.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Physically capable of extended standing, lifting, and repetitive motion.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience in healthcare environmental services or custodial role.
