Head of Finance / Expert in Residence

About the role

Sequence is an AI‑native billing and quote‑to‑cash platform serving modern B2B teams. We are seeking our first Head of Finance / Expert in Residence to lead internal finance functions while acting as a subject‑matter expert for product and engineering, especially around revenue recognition.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee month‑end close and reconciliation with fractional accounting teams.
• Own revenue recognition policy, ensure audit readiness, and guide ASC 606 / IFRS 15 implementation.
• Hire and transition accounting fully in‑house.
• Provide product feedback and prioritisation for billing and revenue‑recognition modules.
• Prepare and present quarterly finance board packs.
• Manage liquidity across multiple bank accounts.
• Establish scalable finance processes across QBO, Xero, Sequence, Ramp, Gusto and Payfit.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• 4+ years experience in fast‑growing B2B SaaS or AI scale‑ups.
• Proven track record of success for at least 2 years in prior finance roles.
• Ability to work across London and NYC time zones.

Required skills

• Experience with finance products such as Maxio, Chargebee, Zuora and Stripe Billing.
• Proficiency in ERP systems: QuickBooks Online (QBO), Xero, Sequence (AR & Quote‑to‑Cash), Ramp (AP), Gusto and Payfit.
• FP&A modelling and quarterly board reporting.
• Knowledge of ASC 606 and IFRS 15 revenue‑recognition standards.
