About the role
The Department of Operational Support is seeking a Facilities Management Officer to lead the design and construction activities of the DC2 Building Renovation Project at United Nations Headquarters in New York. Reporting to the Senior Project Officer, the incumbent will ensure the renovation of UN office floors is delivered on schedule, within budget, and with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate development of design and construction documentation, focusing on HVAC and other engineering disciplines.
- Analyze, plan, and advise on internal office reconfigurations and space planning within the DC2 Building.
- Provide regular project status updates to the Senior Project Officer and oversee on‑site construction activities.
- Administer day‑to‑day contract management, including scope definition, cost estimating, requisition review, technical evaluation, compliance monitoring, and invoice verification.
- Assist in preparing project documentation, reports, and performance monitoring of professional firms and contractors.
Required profile
- Proven experience in managing large‑scale building renovation or construction projects.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and maintain business continuity during relocations.
Required skills
- HVAC system design and coordination.
