Director of Financial Investigations & Forensic Accounting

About the role

Nardello & Co. is seeking a Director to lead its Financial Investigations and Forensic Accounting practice in New York. Reporting to the Managing Director & Global Practice Coordinator, you will oversee high‑stakes investigations, guide multidisciplinary teams, and deliver rigorous, client‑focused results.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex forensic accounting engagements involving fraud, regulatory inquiries, asset tracing, bankruptcy, and compliance matters.
• Manage day‑to‑day workstreams, supervise staff, coordinate with case managers and senior leadership, and ensure timely delivery.
• Integrate research, open‑source intelligence, and data‑analysis capabilities from the Digital Investigations & Cyber Risk team.
• Prepare and present concise written reports, financial analyses, visual exhibits, and oral briefings for clients, counsel, and stakeholders.
• Support expert testimony by developing factual records, financial models, and damages analyses for litigation, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings.
• Contribute to practice growth through market opportunity identification, proposal development, and thought‑leadership initiatives.

Required profile

• Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• 5‑7 years of forensic accounting, financial investigations, or litigation support experience at a major professional services firm (e.g., Big 4).
• Proven ability to manage confidential, high‑complexity matters across investigative and advisory contexts.
• Strong project‑management capabilities with a track record of meeting tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for translating complex financial issues to lawyers, clients, and non‑technical audiences.
