About the role
Summit Therapeutics Inc. is seeking a Corporate Counsel to lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of clinical contracts that support its oncology drug development programs. The role works closely with multiple internal functions to ensure agreements protect the company, align with business objectives, and comply with regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate clinical trial agreements, ancillary agreements, investigator‑sponsored studies, collaboration and development agreements, and sponsored research agreements.
- Partner with clinical, quality, medical affairs, finance, R&D, HR, IT and other departments to address contractual needs.
- Collaborate with attorneys in other practice areas to identify and mitigate legal risks.
- Ensure contracts adhere to company policies and applicable regulations.
- Maintain contract records and support post‑execution compliance monitoring.
Required profile
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree.
- Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Significant experience drafting and negotiating clinical trial and related agreements in the biopharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
- Strong understanding of FDA, EMA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
Required skills
- Advanced contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of clinical trial agreements, quality agreements, and investigator‑sponsored study contracts.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to contractual language.
- Effective cross‑functional collaboration and communication.
