Youth Education Intern (Unpaid)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a motivated Youth Education Intern to support its refugee and asylee youth programs in New York. This unpaid, hybrid position runs from September to December 2026 and offers 15‑24 hours of weekly engagement, both online and at the midtown Manhattan office.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and facilitating the TOAD (Tools for Opportunities and Academic Development) after‑school program, including homework help, English practice workshops, and math classes.
• Support the delivery of Youth English Classes (YESOL) and Leaders in Training (LIT) sessions.
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities for youth programs.
• Collaborate with the Youth Education Supervisor and specialists to meet short‑term and long‑term educational goals of refugee children.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a university program, preferably studying education, social work, international development, or a related field.
• Passionate about supporting refugee and migrant youth.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid environment.
