About the role
Montgomery County Public Schools is building a pool of qualified English Language Development (ELD) teachers to serve limited English proficient (LEP) students across multiple schools. Under the direction of the school principal, the teacher will deliver targeted English instruction and support student language acquisition.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess English language instruction for students identified as LEP through the ESOL Entry/Exit Criteria.
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, classroom teachers, and other staff to coordinate the ESOL/Bilingual program and address individual student needs.
- Maintain alignment with the Montgomery County Public Schools ESOL curriculum and state certification requirements.
Required profile
- Hold Maryland teacher certification in ESOL and have completed the MCPS Secondary Teacher Test.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Strong knowledge of second‑language teaching methods, English structure, and language acquisition techniques.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse staff and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
