School Psychologist Intern (FY28, 2027-2028 School Year)

About the role

This is a full-time School Psychologist Intern position for the 2027-2028 school year, under the direction of a certified school psychologist and a university supervisor. The intern provides psychological services, interventions and instructional supports to students, families and schools, and works with families, administrators, educators and other professionals to create supportive learning and social environments.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and respond to requests for psychological services and provide interventions and instructional supports for students' academic, social, emotional, developmental and life skills.
• Provide direct and indirect services to students, families and schools, and collaborate with families, administrators, educators and other professionals.
• Take part in problem-solving teams such as Collaborative Problem Solving, Educational Management, Section 504 and IEP teams.
• Develop functional behavior assessments, deliver instructional and behavioral interventions, and conduct psychological assessments for educational purposes.
• Provide psychological counseling for students and program consultation to educators serving MCPS students.
• Consult with families, refer them to available resources in MCPS and the community, and collaborate with public and community agencies.
• Deliver parent training and in-service training for staff, attend in-service training and professional development.
• Complete other duties as assigned under the university internship agreement and internship requirements.
