Workforce Development Specialist

About the role

The Workforce Development Specialist is a hands‑on advisor who leads the implementation of workforce improvement solutions for manufacturers across Illinois. This role designs and delivers training systems, onboarding programs, career pathways and performance initiatives to strengthen employee development and drive measurable organizational improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with manufacturers to diagnose workforce challenges, design and implement solutions such as onboarding programs, LMS integration, apprenticeship and career pathway frameworks.
• Provide strategic guidance, coaching and training to build long‑term workforce development success and improve retention.
• Develop proposals with Regional Managers, manage engagements from planning through outcome tracking, and create custom curriculum and training materials.
• Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the client lifecycle and contribute to continuous improvement of IMEC’s workforce solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) with 3+ years experience in manufacturing, workforce development, talent management or related consulting.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements, adapt to diverse manufacturing environments and travel extensively across Illinois.
• Strong entrepreneurial, client‑focused mindset with excellent project management and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Learning Management System (LMS) integration and development of training materials.
