About the role
The Water Fitness Instructor delivers engaging water aerobics classes, ensures participant safety, and supports a positive fitness environment under the Aquatics Director.
Key responsibilities
- Teach scheduled classes on time, providing warm‑up, exercise, stretching, and cool‑down segments.
- Demonstrate proper techniques, explain muscle group focus, and answer participant questions.
- Prepare equipment, music, handouts, and manage lane line setup for class space.
- Monitor pool activities, report facility needs, and adhere to safety and policy standards.
Required profile
- Certified Instructor (AEA, ACE, AFAA) – water specialty preferred.
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid preferred.
- Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles.
Required skills
- Water aerobics teaching strategies, including music tempo, cueing, and rhythm.
- Choreography and music selection abilities.
- Ability to project voice over pool noise and motivate participants.
