Warehouse Automation Engineer (Remote)

About the role

The Warehouse Automation Engineer will lead the identification, evaluation, piloting and deployment of new automation technologies to improve warehouse efficiency and support Ryder’s growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead automation selection and validation for RFPs and new business projects, building ROI and justification.
• Support design validation, procurement, and implementation of warehouse automation solutions, including reviewing clearance, power and cost considerations.
• Manage project milestones, punch lists and post‑go‑live hyper‑care, ensuring timely communication with vendors and on‑site teams.
• Perform data analytics on dashboards and systems to optimize performance and support business case analysis.
• Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot priority tickets and ensure successful solution acceptance testing.

• Strong planning, time‑management, collaboration and presentation skills.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Passion for understanding client vision and driving change in warehouse automation.
• Natural leadership and ownership in research, pilot activities and thought‑leadership.

Required skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years experience with warehouse automation, material handling and industrial engineering.
• Knowledge of automation technologies such as sortation conveyors, goods‑to‑person, autonomous robots and ASRS.
• Proficiency with CAD, warehouse design tools (slotting, MOST, simulation) and WMS/WES.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and financial business‑case analysis.
