Senior Electrical Operations Engineer - Data Center

About the role

A rapidly growing AI infrastructure company building and operating large-scale, mission-critical data centers across the US is hiring a Senior Electrical Operations Engineer for its West Texas site. The role takes ownership of the electrical infrastructure supporting a live, high-density computing environment and is hands-on, with onsite work.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot 480V through 15kV+ electrical distribution systems, including MV switchgear, generators, UPS and associated controls.
• Execute switching, LOTO and energization procedures in line with NFPA 70E and safety standards.
• Respond to electrical incidents, restore systems and support root-cause investigations.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, MOPs and EOPs for critical electrical systems.
• Monitor and respond to alarms through BMS/EPMS platforms.
• Support operations during construction and commissioning alongside live infrastructure, and help commission, turn over and make new infrastructure ready for operation.
• Train and mentor junior electrical operators and help set operating standards.
• Take part in shift-based and on-call operations when required.

Required profile

• Significant hands-on experience operating electrical distribution systems from 480V through medium/high voltage.
• Experience in hyperscale, colocation or other large mission-critical data center environments.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced operational environment and strong communication skills, including mentoring others.

Required skills

• MV switchgear, generators, UPS and critical power distribution.
• Switching, LOTO, energization and electrical safety procedures; NFPA 70E and arc-flash safety.
• Troubleshooting and restoring critical power after failures.
• SOPs, MOPs and EOPs.
• Preferred: NETA certification, journeyman or master electrician license, electrical commissioning experience, greenfield data center build experience, BMS/EPMS experience and overlapping construction/live operations experience.
