Repair Maintenance Technician

About the role

Samtec, Inc. is hiring a Maintenance Technician who will set up, maintain, test, adjust and support manufacturing machinery and processes, which may include dies and molds. The role provides preventative maintenance on problematic equipment and troubleshoots tooling and production equipment. Two shifts are available: T2 Monday to Saturday 2:00 pm to 10:00 am, and T3 Sunday to Friday 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate assigned preventive maintenance tasks with manufacturing to minimize machine downtime while keeping on-time delivery at least 95%
• Support the Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering on equipment and equipment-upgrade projects
• Occasionally perform light machining and basic electrical controls repairs
• Use the Solution Center Tools Level 1 to report manufacturing issues that cannot be resolved on the production floor
• Assemble and debug new tooling, and troubleshoot and maintain current tooling
• Order and maintain purchased tooling, replacement tools and additional capacity

Required profile

• High school diploma (3rd or 4th cycle)
• 2-year or 4-year degree in automotive, precision, electrical or mechanical technology (verifiable)
• 2-5 years of experience in a technical or manufacturing environment (verifiable)
• Experience as a maintenance or equipment technician (verifiable)
• Experience reading prints (verifiable)
• Able to handle multiple tasks and work independently; able to sit or stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist
• Willingness to follow safety rules and wear protective gear where noise or hazardous materials are present

Required skills

• Familiarity with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Tool and die or electrical journeyman/certification is a plus
• Knowledge of proximity sensors, servo motors, production cameras, PLC programming and troubleshooting is a plus
• Basic machinist skills, general die mechanics, bench work and soldering are a plus
