Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Casual Gurney Unit Position

About the role

The Correctional Managed Care program seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for a casual appointment on the Gurney Unit within a Texas correctional or juvenile detention facility. This part‑time position provides direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients while supporting the facility’s medical plan of care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care, including assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures and modify nursing plans under supervision.
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following physician orders and infection‑control protocols.
• Document all nursing activities accurately in patient records.
• Notify medical staff of changes in patient status and respond to care priorities and crises.

Required profile

• Graduated from an accredited LVN program with a current Texas LVN license or temporary permit.
• No prior experience required; recent graduates are welcome.
• Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and security clearance.
• Current BLS‑HP certification.

Required skills

• BLS‑HP (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers).
• Medication administration.
• Infection control and aseptic techniques.
