Visual Field Technician I

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Independence Family Health Center as a Visual Field Technician I. You will support patient care by performing visual field testing and related ophthalmic procedures in a collaborative, patient‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine vision screening tests, including visual acuity and glasses checks.
• Enter patient data into the automated visual field machine and conduct visual field tests as ordered by physicians.
• Administer dilation drops after testing when indicated and prepare patients for subsequent exams.
• Ensure ordering physicians have signed appropriate test orders and capture correct charges after each test.
• Maintain exam rooms by cleaning, stocking supplies, and performing basic equipment maintenance.
• Assist with ordering medical and office supplies as needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
• Formal education or training in ophthalmology (preferred, may substitute experience).
• Experience in a customer‑facing or patient‑facing role within a healthcare setting.

Required skills

• Ability to operate visual field testing equipment and related devices such as OCT, Topography, and Pentacam.
• Manual dexterity and good eye‑hand coordination for precise testing procedures.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods while performing examinations.
• Adherence to standard precautions and use of personal protective equipment.
