Visiting Lecturer, Spanish and French

About the role

Bentley University’s Modern Languages Department seeks a one‑semester Visiting Lecturer to teach Spanish and French in Spring 2027, with the possibility of renewal. The role supports the department’s Language, Culture, and Business major and contributes to a vibrant, interdisciplinary campus community.

Key responsibilities

• Teach four courses per semester, typically beginning and intermediate Spanish and French classes.
• Develop and deliver innovative language and culture curricula, incorporating task‑based activities and current L2 pedagogy research.
• Provide departmental service such as course coordination, program advising, or support for the LCB major.
• Engage with students through the Center for Language and International Collaboration and the Office of International Education.

Required profile

• Native or near‑native fluency in both Spanish and French.
• Minimum of a master’s degree in modern languages, applied linguistics, language pedagogy, or a related field.
• Proven effectiveness teaching Spanish and French at beginning and intermediate levels.
• Commitment to innovative, research‑informed language instruction and to Bentley’s teacher‑scholar model.

Required skills

• Proficiency in L2 pedagogy, task‑based language teaching, and heritage learner instruction.
• Ability to design, implement, and assess language curricula and course materials.
• Strong communication skills in both target languages.
