About the role

The Department of French and Italian at Tulane University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach French courses for the 2026‑2027 academic year. This one‑year, non‑renewable appointment begins on July 1, 2026 and is designed for scholars who have recently completed their doctoral studies.

Key responsibilities

• Teach three undergraduate French courses in the fall semester.
• Teach three undergraduate French courses in the spring semester, including one advanced 4000/6000‑level course.
• Prepare syllabi, assignments, and assessments aligned with departmental standards.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the academic community.

Required profile

• PhD in French, French Studies, or a closely related field, defended by July 1 2026 (candidates who defended within the past three years are encouraged to apply).
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate French language and literature.
