Middle School Math & PE Teacher (7th-8th Grade)

About the role

The Bridge Middle School Program, part of Educators for Quality Alternatives, seeks a dedicated teacher to deliver high‑quality math and physical education to 7th and 8th graders who are transitioning back to their home schools. You will work in a small, restorative‑focused classroom alongside a counselor, providing both academic instruction and behavioral support.

Key responsibilities

• Create and deliver engaging math and PE lessons aligned with Louisiana State Standards and LEAP2025 assessments.
• Utilize project‑based learning and multimodal teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
• Differentiate instruction, assessments, and supports for each student.
• Monitor and assess individual and class‑wide progress, adjusting curriculum as needed.
• Build transformative relationships that foster student growth and resilience.
• Collaborate with the classroom counselor to address behavioral and mental‑health needs.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience teaching at‑risk middle‑school students.
• Demonstrated record of raising student achievement.
• BA or BS required; Louisiana teacher certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience working with students who have learning or emotional difficulties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills.
• Passion for urban education and mission‑driven teamwork.
