Vice President of Operations – Custom Manufacturing & Fabrication

About the role

The Vice President of Operations will lead day‑to‑day performance across pre‑construction, estimating, production, scheduling, quality, project management, coordination and shipping for a family‑owned custom manufacturing and architectural fabrication company.

Key responsibilities

• Own operational performance across the full lifecycle from design to delivery and develop functional leaders such as the Director of Production and Director of Pre‑Construction.
• Evaluate and modernize workflows, implement technology‑enabled systems, establish KPIs and SOPs, and reduce reliance on manual, spreadsheet‑based processes.
• Develop disciplined capacity planning, improve scheduling visibility, and enhance communication with customer‑facing teams to ensure accurate timeline information.
• Partner with finance to link operational decisions to revenue, margin and profitability, and use job‑costing data to drive pricing discipline and cost control.
• Coach managers, build structured onboarding and cross‑training programs, and foster an inclusive, high‑ownership culture.

Required profile

• 8+ years of progressive operations leadership in custom manufacturing, architectural fabrication or similar made‑to‑order environments.
• Proven success building or improving operational systems, processes and infrastructure in a growing organization.
• Experience leading multiple functional areas, developing leaders and managing through managers rather than direct front‑line supervision.
• Strong business judgment, ability to move between strategic planning and hands‑on problem solving, and comfort in an entrepreneurial setting.
