Design Engineer (Mechanical)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Design Engineer to lead the design and analysis of mechanical structures and components for specialized trucks and heavy equipment. The role combines 3D modelling, prototype development, testing and collaboration with procurement and production teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design and analysis of mechanical structures and components, including BOM creation.
• Develop new products using SolidWorks or Onshape and produce detailed 2‑D drawings.
• Coordinate prototype part ordering, build prototypes and define test procedures.
• Conduct functional, structural and stability testing and modify designs based on results.
• Assess machine weight, balance, road‑worthiness and crane stability.
• Generate sales support drawings and assist in technical publications.
• Act as liaison between shop floor and engineering, troubleshoot design issues.
• Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• FE certification.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‑service mindset.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (3‑D modelling and 2‑D drafting).
• Onshape.
• AutoCAD.
• Microsoft Office.
• Structural design of welded steel structures.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor or Infor.
