Vice President of Finance

About the role

Prelude, the leading SaaS platform for animal health and nutrition evidence, is seeking a Vice President of Finance to build the financial infrastructure, operating discipline, and strategic decision‑making capabilities needed for its next growth phase. This is a strategic finance role, not a traditional controllership position, partnering directly with the CEO and executive team.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead a scalable finance function, enhancing FP&A, forecasting, reporting, and operational finance.
• Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
• Partner with the CEO on board reporting, strategic planning, and executive decision support.
• Develop and maintain an operating model linking pipeline, bookings, revenue, retention, margin, and cash generation.
• Establish rigorous reporting of SaaS metrics such as ARR, NRR, GRR, CAC payback, gross margin, and capital efficiency.
• Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario planning, and variance analysis.
• Serve as a strategic thought partner on growth, investment prioritization, pricing strategy, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing leadership on deal structuring, pricing, pipeline economics, and ROI.
• Own the financial systems roadmap, including NetSuite optimization and integration with CRM and operational data sources.

Required profile

• Extensive senior finance leadership experience in a high‑growth SaaS or technology company.
• Proven ability to design and scale finance organizations and processes.
• Strong strategic mindset with experience influencing C‑level decision making.
• Deep understanding of SaaS business models and key performance metrics.
• Excellent communication and partnership skills across finance, sales, and marketing functions.
