Vice President of Commercial Operations

About the role

The company is seeking a Vice President of Commercial Operations to lead a $15M commercial drywall, framing, and paint division and drive growth to $25M+. This is a hands‑on P&L role reporting directly to the President/Owner, with full authority over strategy, estimating, operations, safety, hiring, and financial results.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a $15M division on a 10‑15% annual growth plan, overseeing 6 direct reports and a 14‑person department.
• Own estimating leadership, including bid strategy, hit‑rate, takeoff accuracy, and margin discipline.
• Manage project execution across all active jobs, ensuring manpower, schedule, quality, and customer experience.
• Develop senior relationships with general contractors, construction managers, architects, and owners.
• Maintain safety culture and ensure OSHA/AWCI compliance.
• Drive hiring, development, and succession for site supervisors, foremen, project managers, and estimators.

Required profile

• 10+ years in commercial drywall and metal‑stud framing, with significant operations or P&L leadership experience.
• Proven track record managing a multi‑project portfolio at a division or department‑head level.
• Strong commercial estimating instincts and ability to protect margins.
• Credibility with general contractors, owners, and architects in the local commercial market.
• Leadership style that is humble, accountable, direct, and respected by teams.

• Base salary $165,000 plus a 25% target annual bonus tied to a five‑metric scorecard.
• Biannual profitability spiff – 5% of completed‑project margin above target.
