About the role
Mastercard is seeking a Vice President to lead its Government Affairs & Policy function in the United States. The role focuses on advancing advocacy with federal policymakers, particularly Democratic members of Congress, to support Mastercard’s strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive advocacy strategies targeting center‑left policymakers, reflecting current policy and political trends.
- Lead direct advocacy efforts with Congressional Democrats to advance policy priorities and mitigate risks.
- Provide regular updates and strategic guidance to executives and senior management on relevant policy developments.
- Oversee relationships and memberships with trade associations, coalitions, industry organizations, and third‑party entities.
- Collaborate across the Government Affairs & Policy function and business teams to ensure a cohesive engagement approach.
Required profile
- Significant experience in government affairs, policy, or a related corporate environment, preferably in the private sector.
- Strong political acumen and deep understanding of federal decision‑making processes.
- Proven leadership ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to distill complex topics.
- Established relationships with policymakers and exceptional attention to detail.
