Nuclear Regulatory Associate

About the role

Zeno Power is seeking a highly motivated Nuclear Regulatory Associate to support licensing, compliance tracking, and cross‑functional coordination as we bring Radioisotope Power Systems to market for maritime deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Support license applications and regulatory submissions for RPS technologies with nuclear and non‑nuclear regulators, preparing documentation and tracking status to approval.
• Track regulatory workstreams, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple concurrent licensing efforts, coordinating tasks across the organization.
• Research and synthesize federal and state maritime nuclear regulatory requirements (e.g., NRC, DOT/PHMSA, USCG) to inform strategy.
• Draft briefing decks, regulatory summaries, white papers, and reference materials for leadership.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Legal, and other teams to embed regulatory requirements into program milestones.
• Maintain organized regulatory records in Confluence and support external engagement with regulators and industry partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific, legal, or policy discipline related to nuclear engineering, health physics, environmental science, or nuclear law.
• 4‑6 years of experience in a nuclear‑regulated environment with licensing or compliance tracking.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to translate regulatory requirements for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Adaptability to fast‑paced startup environment with shifting priorities and limited precedent.

Required skills

• Experience with NRC licensing (e.g., 10 CFR Part 30) or similar radioactive material frameworks.
• Familiarity with DOT/PHMSA hazardous materials regulations and maritime regulatory bodies.
• Proficiency with Confluence and Jira for documentation management and workstream tracking.

• Salary range $105,000 – $135,000 per year plus equity.
