Vehicle Operator – Scott Base Shuttle Service

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Vehicle Operator to run shuttle and taxi services at Scott Base, Antarctica. The role covers transporting passengers and flight crew between the airfield ramp and the station, operating shuttle buses and vans in all weather, and acting as a dispatcher for taxi and transport requests.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to Amentum's SafeUp program and US Antarctic Program safety policies, taking part in safety briefings and meetings
• Drive shuttle vehicles (11-14 passenger vans, Foremost Delta II and 56 passenger Terra Bus) on varying road surfaces in inclement weather
• Pick up and transport passengers and flight crew to and from the airfield ramp, following airfield safety rules
• Perform and document mechanical and fluid checks before and during operation, and complete shuttle and taxi logs
• Communicate via two-way radio using prescribed procedures and radio etiquette
• Provide Scott Base shuttle service, taxi service, and transport for Long Duration Balloon personnel; monitor flight schedules and dispatch as needed
• Provide bellhop service for incoming and outgoing flights and act professionally with NSF, military and other agency officials
• Perform job hazard analyses, work center inspections and other safety reports, and give light vehicle training to other departments

Required profile

• At least six months of experience driving vehicles or operating equipment (shuttle, bus driving)
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts outdoors in bad weather, including nights, weekends and extra hours
• Ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods, with medical, dental, drug screening and background checks completed
• Valid US driver's license; US citizenship required for facility credentials at this location
• Ability to lift and move items and work outdoors in extreme cold
