Senior Specialist, Customer Operations

About the role

This role manages the efficient and cost-effective movement of cargo and transportation requirements, handles logistics documentation and ensures processes are completed within established deadlines. It supports operations across multiple business units and segments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex domestic and international cargo movements in line with company policies.
• Verify shipment invoices against physical cargo and customer/regulatory requirements.
• Review rates and proposals and recommend changes when needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. regulatory requirements.
• Maintain communication with customers about cargo and shipment status.
• Prepare, review, approve and maintain import/export documentation.
• Determine cargo classifications based on tariff specifications and interpret and apply rates to bills of lading accurately and on time.
• Serve as a lead and provide technical and operational training to Logistics Specialists and Coordinators.

Required profile

• 5+ years of general office and transportation/logistics experience.
• Associate degree in Business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of post-high-school education and job-related training.
• Knowledge of import forwarding and customs brokerage in domestic and/or international environments.
• English/Spanish bilingual skills may be required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ocean and air documentation, customs forms and applicable regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organization, prioritization, multitasking and deadline management.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, manage projects, work in a team and mentor others.
