Transportation Driver - Elderly Passengers

About the role

Villa Saint Joseph, a retirement residence for priests of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is hiring a full-time Transportation Driver in Darby, PA. The driver picks up and delivers elderly passengers to medical appointments, clinics and other designated destinations, working in a door-to-door service model in residential or medical settings. Evening availability is listed.

Key responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver elderly passengers to medical appointments, clinics and other destinations, keeping trips safe, timely and compliant with disability transportation regulations.
• Assist passengers with mobility limitations in boarding, seating and exiting the vehicle, and help with luggage and mobility devices.
• Operate a specially equipped small bus, car and van, and carry out pre-trip and post-trip inspections for safety, cleanliness and operational readiness.
• Respond to emergencies or medical situations, including administering first aid or calling for help.
• Communicate with the Director of Nursing and Unit Coordinator about schedule changes, delays or incidents, and maintain trip records including gas receipts and vehicle condition.
• Complete signing sheets for vehicle and bus keys and other paperwork.

Required profile

• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a clean record and at least 3 years of active license.
• High school diploma or GED; passenger transport experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to work independently, follow instructions and use GPS and electronic tools; CPR/first aid certification preferred.

Required skills

• Ability to adapt to early morning or evening pickups to match appointment schedules.
