International Trade Compliance Assistant

About the role

Nysonian, which builds global lifestyle brands such as NOBL Travel and FLO Pilates, is looking for a Trade Compliance Associate to support day-to-day compliance for its imports and exports. You will prepare and review customs entries and supporting documents, keep classification and origin records accurate, and catch issues before they become penalties. Every entry, document package and correction goes to the Import/Export Manager, who holds approval authority.

Key responsibilities

• Review customs entries and supporting documents for declared values, HTS classifications, country of origin and quantities, ensuring managerial approval before and after filing.
• Verify commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, purchase orders and shipping documents, flagging discrepancies before shipment.
• Research and recommend HTS codes for new products, maintain classification records, determine country of origin and assess eligibility for trade agreements and special duty programs.
• Review customs valuation documentation, including First Sale packages, verify duty and fee calculations, and reconcile broker invoices, ACE reports and monthly statements.
• Generate and analyze ACE reports, reconcile shipment and inventory records, investigate discrepancies and escalate compliance risks.
• Maintain audit-ready customs records under five-year retention requirements, prepare post-summary corrections and post-entry amendments, and draft responses to CBP inquiries (CF-28 and CF-29).
• Monitor filing deadlines, liquidation and protest timelines, regulatory and tariff changes, and guide teams on documentation requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in International Trade, International Business, Customs Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of experience in import/export compliance, customs brokerage, freight forwarding or international trade operations.
• Working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), HTS classification, rules of origin, customs valuation and Incoterms.
• Experience reviewing CBP Form 7501 entry summaries and working with ACE reports.
• Understanding of international trade agreements, Section 301 tariffs and special duty programs.
• Strong English reading and writing, with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reconciliations and compliance checks.
• Analytical and organizational skills, able to manage trade compliance documentation accurately.
