Transportation Design Engineer

About the role

ISG, a multi-disciplinary firm founded in 1973 offering architecture, engineering, environmental and planning services, is growing its Transportation team with a Transportation Design Engineer. The role works closely with the Project Manager, Heidi Schwarz, PE, and collaborates with internal resources on design, code review, specification writing, visualization and construction administration, with a strong emphasis on Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) standards.

Key responsibilities

• Work with a team of engineers on roadway design, including horizontal and vertical alignments, intersection layout, corridor modeling, drainage, ROW, cross sections, utility plans, signing and marking, and quantity and cost estimating.
• Plan, design and analyze data on roadway and transportation engineering projects.
• Prepare studies with drawings, maps, reports and supporting documentation.
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Prepare construction drawings and specifications.
• Conduct site visits and report findings to supervisory engineers and project managers.
• Help project managers and senior engineers meet schedules and budgets, and coordinate timely document and drawing preparation.
• Complete training, attend seminars, review publications and take in-house courses.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• 5+ years of transportation design experience.
• Ability to present complex technical concepts to engineers, clients and the public.
• Analytical thinking, problem-solving, self-starting attitude and good verbal and written communication.
• Team player who meets project schedules and deadlines.
• Training is offered to the right person.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Autodesk Civil3D is preferred.
